This is the very same we are waiting for: What my original question relates to is taking this to the next century and offer these VR tools even more functionality and to allow a VR user the ability to click on an object and get intelligence from it ie a door ID, its manufacturer, spec ref etc.
Based on what you said about the expectations of the architects we should hopefully see some big progress in this area. I would assume that IFC will be the key for this again...
