We recently switched to Sharepoint to replace our local server.
We now use a folder structure on the 'Design' folder, so we keep having classic paths to use in the configuration files (variables).
We synchronize a local copy of the Sharepoint files on the local hard drives, and make a virtual drive (T://) of that location to point to in the configuration files.
This has some downsides:
- it takes up space on a local drive, since the files are basically a local copy, which is kept in sync with the cloud;
- when 2 people open the same file, since it is opened fron a local drive, AECOsim doesn't know it should be read-only, resulting in conflicting uploads (the conflicting file gets an addition with the computer name in the file name (ex. building.dgn > buidling_computer01.dgn).
Are there any Sharepoint users who use it with AECOsim, and have managed to find a way to refer to the location in the cloud, without making a local copy?
Any other experiences with the Sharepoint/AECOsim combination? I'd like to hear more user experiences...
