Productivity should never be considered a minor thing, since people rely on it to make a living.
Even if something works, if you take enough time to avoid this and that pitfall, if not having the old behavior negatively impacts the value of the software it should be considered important. Simply by having it take more time to get the job done and verify that it was done correctly.
Unfortunately, from a Bentley point of view, it "works" (even if the if you'd go crazy if you had to work like that all day long). I can only hope that they are willing to admit that the new behavior does not increase productivity, and take the necessary steps to make things right again.
