1. Airports are like little municipal authorities that have tons of utilities, facilities, roads etc that have generated tons of legacy 2d data... DWG or even DGN and not RVT. Revit is pretty bad at utilising referencing DWG etc. Bentley Aviation sales team should be able to gussy up some addins to Aecosim to help auto convert those 2d drawings to 3d models. Raster-based conversion if required.
2. Revit originally has a design cube of 2 miles, which apparently can be extended to 20 miles at the cost of accuracy. Will be reliant on conversion to Navis to get the 'full picture'. Bentley Aviation sales team should be able to show how dgns can handle large datasets including for roads and large civils projects. PW auto replication of i.models for stakeholder reviews.
3. Revit is pretty bad at civils. No track record. Bentley can provide seasoned apps for civils tasks like comms utilities, drainage, eletrical substations, roads and civils, structural and MEP etc using a format that Aecosim can readily reference without lengthy/lossy conversions. Show i.dgn replication on PW? See also item 1. Demonstrate workflow that allows economic upgrading of legacy data. Maybe in conjuction with offshore CAD service outfit to keep costs down. Update Crossrail Asset Painter / Aecosim Add Instance Data to facilitate rules based tag assignment. Demonstrate how Bentley Class Editor can be used to generate the relevant schemas and Bentley Data Manager can be used to generate and manage those MEP product specs. Develop and demonstate batch / automated processes. Rules based? Visual programming UI based on i-model transformer?
4. Between eB and ProjectWise, Bentley should be able to show that they have been at this for awhile. NetworkRail and other airports? Abu Dhabi Mid Field Terminal? Develop and demonstrate tools to convert the legacy document management system(s) to Asset/ProjectWise. Set up and groom offshore conversion service.
Show how all that asset information can be updated as part of the daily facilities management and repair work.
5. Show off fancy Context Capture and AR apps. But also show that more conventional context capture tools like surveying, photogrametry, point clouds, raster document scanning and conversion are integrated... using the same dgn medium. Integration with photo management apps like TruView and laser setting out apps like Trimble TotalStation. Show off Hypermodeling which can be used as a '3d filing cabinet' that allows a 2d drawings to be indexed spatially.
Maybe even combine Hypermodeling and Promise file hyperlinking tools. The demo would have an enhanced PW enhanced Project Explorer panel that would be powerful enough to access the airports entire 2/3d database. HM enables jumping from the 3d model to a 2d drawing and Promise enables jumping from a 3d model/drawing to any other model that shows a view of a particular component.
6. Revit is not designed for landscaping and civils work that contain a lot of meshes etc.
