Modifying the VBA's to behave consistently is the first and biggest thing. The delivered ones were obviously created by different people. They all "work" but as a whole they just don't make sense. They do a lot of complex As Built stuff and the randomness of one command supporting a certain AccuDraw Shortcut and another not just drove them bonkers. They reworked those to behave in a consistent manner. (Typical stuff like Jeff also mentions, Bentley adds something to rectangular, but not round, to placement but not modification etc). I hope ABD CONNECT won't be a port of the existing messy coding (as a whole that is).
They also have custom software, but that's more administrative in nature except for the database stuff that is just designed to make AECOsim work faster by using small project databases.
Being productive is actually the only thing that really matters to them. Do stuff faster than the competition.
Bentley hasn't really caught on to productive Mechanical, they're still pretty much in the "well at least it works like this if you first do this, then that and then finally this again or in another case you might have to do yadayadayada" stage.
