When I place a steel beam or column the Automatic Coping option is selected. how do I uncheck this by default.
I have STR_DISABLE_COPE_DEPENDENCIES set to 1 but this is for updating and not placing.

Hi, I'm running straight pipes with 90 deg fittings through varies Spaces, and not getting the 'space' information reporting in schedule for straight pipe - added 'ArchSpace' definition to both Straight pipe and elbows - get the columns showing in the Schedule but no the associated label info - In the same schedule I have fittings which show the Space info correctly but not for pipes

AECOsim connect
I have downloaded the (GB) AECOsim Connect software as a trial
it came with what looked like a massive set of tutorials with the software, potentially very useful
the first tutorial on generative components suggested there was a US dataset and also a 'neutral metric' NM dataset
when I tried to replicate the tutorial, there was only the US dataset available (annoying)
I then tried a mechanical tutorial on setting up drawings, it all looked very similar to the traditional AECOsim workflow and again I was disappointed to see it was not based on the new software.
I will be removing the software and re-installing the old AECOsim for now
I hope in the future Bentley can put a Metric based version of this software together that contains all the metric measurements for mechanical and electrical design in the future
so far I think its only purpose if as a draughting tool, and not as a BIM tool
Has anyone else tried using (GB) AECOsim Connect for MEP, I downloaded abd100000154en.exe & abd10010036en.exe would update 2 have made a difference?

AECOsim SS6 Grid Systems
Hi all,
I've been trying to figure out the best way to create a Grid System for a train station.
The floor manager needs to be set up in order for the Grid Systems to work. However this does not enable inclined planes, a requirement for our station.
In addition to this, when testing the Grid Systems using the Sketch feature, the lines of the Grid seem to be hidden behind the graphics within a Dynamic View.
Obviously this is not ideal as a lot of manual drafting is having to be undertaken to overcome these problems, and at this stage I'm tempted to give up with Grid Systems completely and revert to manual methods.
Any advice??

Position mapping problem in ABDCE
Hi
ABD CE ver 10.01.00.36
We seem to have a problem in our office with the Position Mapping.
Some of the icons don't get numbers, typically the first 2 which make the whole thing broken.
Any ideas?
I've tried different setting in Preferences such as
"Use Position Mapping" on/off
Ribbon->"Auto-Generate KeyTips" on/off
Also tried regenerating new .upf
No difference.

Not optimized icons in Building Designer Tasks
Hi,
I have display the V8i style Tasks dialog in ABD .154 relese as described by this post: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/24481/how-to-display-the-v8i-style-tasks-dialog-in-microstation-connect-edition but many icons are not optimized (many of them apperas as a working key (wrench)). I open a service ticket but I cannot get an answer. I did the same with ABD Update 2 and what I got is only the Microstation Tasks dialog and not the ABD Tasks dialog.
Does everyone know how to solve this issue?

popsup of AECOSIM STOPPED WORKING
When I am working on a model (even a simple model) and do stuff like add instance data / change RFA intepreted in catalog editor , the popsup of AECOSIM STOPPED WORKING keeps on happening
Is it because of the model or the unstable Aecosim software?
notes : I already uninstalled and installed back my Aecosim to the latest version of update 2 and still the same thing happen

Parking building - car ramp
We are trying to design a car ramp for a parking building, but we don't seem to find the prefered way to model this.
We designed the ramp in the image below using Revit, but we want to do this in AECOsim (We are using AECOsim Connect Update 2).
We tried the following method in AECOsim:
- construct the base lines of the ramp using spirals;
- converting the spirals to Complex Shapes, which gave us the base forms for the ramp itself and its two side walls;
- extruding those Complex Shapes to the desired height.
However, this resulted in a model that seemed to take ages to calculate the dynamic views (dynamic or cached, both take way to long) or using DEM to calculate an extracted drawing (which we cancelled after about 10 minutes without any result).
Also, using the method as mentioned above, the ramp had to be constructed in 3 parts, since extracting the Complex Shapes of the full ramp resulted in bad extracted elements.
What is the correct way to construct this kind of element?

AECOsim Dynamic view sections from structural elements don’t cap when opened in Microstation. Is this the standard behavior?
DVs sections from ABD of a structural element like a slab it doesn’t cap the cut face when I open and activate the section callout in Microstation.
I’m not expecting to see unifications / hatching (or other fancy stuff) because I know Microstations doesn’t have Building Views and dataset family & parts like AECOsim
Just wondering if the described behavior is standard and not a problem with my setup.

What is the expected use of the IFC 4 export options? neither of the 2 types IFC4 reference view, or IFC4 design transfer view, export complete models. certain elements are just missed out. so, what is the point of their inclusion?

Rendering large models in Aecosim Connect - Problems
So, attempting to render a large model in ABD Connect, i get this....
The 'render' never completes, or if by chance it does, it is just black. There is no progress bar, does not display light passes etc.... just using a whole lot of RAM
Nothing to do with brightness settings or lighting. I can render the same model in MS Connect without issue, though I have to manually assign materials as the parts are not recognised in MS.
I shall post the same question in the visualisation forum, but I as MS can produce a render i tend to think the issue is with part/family mapping and ABD

AECOsim Connect edition - model properties
The model properties dialog box as we knew it the V8i version seems to be gone in Connect Edition, to be integrated in the other 'Properties' dialog as used when looking at element properties.
The button "Edit model properties" in the Models dialog window doesn't seem to work for me, when I try to use it, I get the message:
"Edit Model Properties > Identify element to add to set".
This doesn't seem to be correct? Is it just here or do other users have the same?

View orientation toolbox (Connect) - old icons showing
This is not a big issue, since everything works fine, just an esthetic issue :-)
My View Orientation dialog sees to show old icons for some of them (top left and right):
Is this a general thing, or do I need to look for some mistake in a dgnlib (old icon somewhere still enclosed)?

Custom key-in commands ABD Ss6
I’d like to open the Snipping tool found in C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe. I’ve tried %snippingtool.exe in the Key-in dialog and I get an error saying windows can’t find the location. However running snippingtool from the command line works fine. Can you please help

Reference Presentation - View Flags
Hello All,
I believe I have come across a bug/error but I thought it best to ask here first.
I was asked by my supervisor if it was possible to have a series of references in a model, but have one particular file (in this case a point cloud) ignore the clip volumes that were being used in the model.
I answered yes, you only need to go to the reference which you want to have ignore the clip volume and change its Reference Presentation settings to ignore Clip Volumes... well it appears that this doesn't work. As far as I can see, all the View *** options do not have any impact whether on or off. This didn't used to be the case with Microstation V8i.
I have tested with AECOsim Connect/AECOsim V8i/Navigator V8i. All of which seem to ignore the presentation settings request to ignore clip volumes.
Is this controlled by a variable? If not what is going on?

Keynote format in Connect edition differs from V8i
We use the keynote utility extensively. After inputting all of our parameters and placing a keynote, all is well, except that the leader line comes of the lower left corner of the text, not at the left middle, see below.
I have tried editing the KEYNOT cell in the econdoc.cel library in the directory pointed to by TFKEY_DIR, by moving the place holder text down so the origin is at the midline. I have given the text the a LEFT CENTER justification. Nothing works. Perhaps this is related to the CONNECT property that makes the keynotes subject to annotation scale (which we don't need).
Please advise, as this makes the tool useless.

Error: Unable to create Railing. Please load section file.
Hello Good ABD Community.
I'm having a problem regarding Railings, when I try to place them I get the "Error: Unable to create Railing. Please load section file".
I'm attaching a picture so you can see it.
I think the problem is that is not finding the railing sections on the dataset, does anyone know where they could be so I can reroute them? and does anyone knows the variable that sets this parameter?
