AECOsim and Windows fonts
Why doesn't AECOsim see all of the Windows TrueType fonts.
There are 9 Arial fonts in Windows 10, but AECOsim only lists 2. Arial Black and Arial Narrow.
How do I get AECOsim to see the other fonts ?

Parametric cell with instance data
Hi
I've created a parametric cell and added instance data to it in the .cel-file. But when I place it as cell in a design file the instance data is gone.
(the preview of the cell in the cell library-dialog the cell has the same color as the level provided by the instance data).
Is there a way to keep the instance data after placement?

Cached Building Views CE U4
I am having some issues with building views that have been cached. This is my first foray into generating CE building views (i have been using SS6 for some time) and so far a have only begun using them with Spaces (I am adding these to my 2d background plans for initial presentation purposes).
However, when I set the Cach Synch to Automatic which in principle is great. Often (not always), many elements seem to go missing (there is no apparent pattern to what disappears). It seems the Cache gets broken and I am forced to change back to Dynamic and then back again to Cache so that it can be rebuilt (simply synching or reloading won't bring them back). So i cannot trust this in any way - too dangerous.
Is this a known issue. Is there something i need to look out for or best practice config to set?

Cell / Objects in ABD CE4+
What is the official / recommended way to BIM-ify Cells in CE4 and beyond?
Intelligent / Parametric Objects are central to BIM modeling and contents.
We hear that the new Parametric Solids / Feature Cells will be the unified parametric content modeling platform that will replace the current salad bar of PCS, PFB and Compound Cells. The Mstn team is implementing Perforators and Named Presentations, and Item Types are now sprouting Expressions functionality. Hopefully, the display team is also looking at how to control unification of the elements nested in Feature Cells so that OBD users will be spared re-living the bugs of the past. Replace Cell tool workarounds.

The other big missing platform level funtionality is quantification. Mstn's Parametric etc solids do not have AEC-compliant/friendly quantification that the old Triforma Forms have. This is a big gotcha for those who think that they can model using the new shiny constraints and parametric solids tools and are required to produce usable output for 5D BIM purposes. It would be good if Bentley could confirm when / if this will be provided. Q4/20?
1. Doors: Currently I would assume that the recommendation would be to stick with PCS or Compound Cells until Perorators and Named Presentations are released. Neither made it through in Mstn U12 so it will be OBD Update 6, Q3/19 at the earliest?
2. Cladding Panels: OK to use Feature Cells? Are the Feature Cells tested / kosher with the Place User Defined, Export IFC and Schedules etc etc tools? I can just see the 3 month release cycle making testing very cursory and low spec UX the norm. Can the new Curtain Wall tool incorporate cladding cladding panels generated using Feature Cells?
3. Furniture: OK as Feature Cells placed using the Placed User Defined tool, as long as user uses the Add Instance Data tool to add F+P info and associate the FC to a Datagroup definition file. Klunky compared to R'vit's Family Editor and others. It would be good to provide a means to automatically extract the FC's parameters and transfer to the .xsd. Q4/19?

AECOsim CEU4 - constant crashing
Hi All,
I am getting multiple crashes a day. (averaging about 10/day) where V8i SS6 rarely did.
There seems to be multiple triggers. Sometims it is to do with dynamic view, sometimes to do with spaces.
I know it is difficult to pin down this sort of thing wihtout more context, but on a general note, is anyone else experiencing a similar number of crashes?

AECOsim CEU4 - active linestyle dropdown menu is very slow and clunky
Hi All,
I find that the active linestyle dialog within the Home ribbon is very slow to respond. The drop-downs for the line weights or colour etc.in comparison are much faster. Any reason for this? Anyone else experincing the same... could it be that 'out of the box' AECOsim (UK dataset) has about a million linestyles included?
Also visually the GUI looks half finished. Why does it not say 'ByLevel' at the top like it always did? Instead it shows a line at the top... really looks confusing and not helpful in any way.

Cross Referencing only working in one direction

Has there been any update on this?
We are using Aecosim Connect Edition Update 1 (10.01.00.36) shortly upgrading to update 4.
I haven't been able to get the bubbles to cross reference properly.
For example:
Section E created from sheet: #####-###-A-DPL-####-101200 and placed it on sheet: #####-###-A-DSE-####-202300
So, as you can see above the cross-referencing only works in one direction.
If I try and manually correct the title bubble on 202300 I lose all the other fields and have to re-path them all.
As you can see above, when the Drawing Link/General/File Name is updated the fields are lost from the drawing identifier, name and detail scale.
And then these must be re-done manually – opening the text editor by double clicking on text, deleting the existing field, re-typing ‘drawing identifier’ making this new text a field, 'by element properties', selecting the title bubble and selecting drawing Identifier from general tab of the Fields editor. Then repeating the process for the name and the detail scale. To finally have the correct format.
This is a long winded approach and very difficult to control on a large project.
Is there something i am missing here?

I would like to build BIM in Cesium 3D tiles. The developer suggested Bentley system, but I not sure which Bentley software support this work.

I would like to export my file to IFC, the contents of my file are only some paremetrics cells (cube and cylinder)
I've no probleme when I export directly to IFC, but when same file is on reference IFC is EMPTY !!!

AECOsim CEU4 - Display Rules - fill colour
Hi All,
I created a display rule that attempts to re-symbolise shapes so that the fill is the background colour. However I cannot get it to work.
If I choose a colour such as red it looks and prints fine.
However as soon as i choose the background colour, the fill turns white and prints black.
I am adding this display rule to a simple wireframe display style. So what is going on and how do i fix it?

Setting reference nesting depth to 2 with key in including all drawing / model files
Hi,
I use the following keyin to set reference depth to 2 in the sheet file:
REFERENCE SET NESTMODE=LIVE,NESTDEPTH=2
Is there a way in which i can use this keyin and set the nesting depth in the sheet file, all the drawings and models in that one file? Currently only changes the nesting depth in the active model.

Grids and Floor elevation datums disappear after refresh annotation button selected
I am hoping you can help us out with this issue regarding refreshing annotations in a drawing model file. As Projectwise Administrator, when I do a refresh annotations, it take about 20 secs and refresh is successful. For anybody else doing a refresh, the floor datums and grid completely disappears.
I am wondering if this is a user access issue in projectwise to a particular folder? I have all members under “Team Members” user group and when they do a refresh everything disappears. I then added one of those members under ‘ProjectWise Administrator” user group and the refresh was successful.
What system file controls the Refresh Annotation tool? Did I lock the entire team out of it?
This is impacting all disciplines and was hoping you can look into this for us, would be greatly appreciated.

COBie for MEP
Program is AECOsim SS5 mechanical solution and i am trying to assign the Management asset for Handing over of the project and i want the datagroup of equipments contain the asset ID field. i trayied using this link "https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/f/aecosim-speedikon-forum/84492/buildingsmart-cobie-challenge-2013-result" but i failed to make the asst tag id field appear in data group. can any one help me.
i use the COBie US template.
its appear in Door data group but i cant make it appear in mechanical equipment like vertical split couple pump
