I have set the variable to point to the users Temp folder and there are no files in there and using the Element Info tool still hangs when I use it.
Am I missing something, does this not create a cache conversion file?

Hi all,
In the datagroup definition type values, can someone please explain what the BOOLEAN value means. Also i would appreciate any Wiki/s that clearly explain all the other values
Thank you

Hi All,
i intend to add these datagroups parts directory below to my dataset explorer:
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_GB\datagroupcatalogs
Can someone please tell me the exact configuration variable/s i need to use
Thank you
Are we able to lock the Standard Section size that is defined by the Catalog Item.
In the DataGroup Catalog Editor you have the option to make the Property not Editable which greys out the Section Name on the Properties tab.
We have found that users due to the lack of experience have been changing the section size and not the Catalog Item.
Hi Guys,
Using v8i ss6, I have created bespoke catalogue and assigned data to graphical elements, I have been using this successfully for sometime now, but my latest model creates an error; When publishing to i model the data has duplicated on certain elements.
The native file shows single set of data only, the duplication occurs in the published i dgn file only!
Does anyone have any experience in the doubling up of data when publishing and any method of preventing/fixing this?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Stephen
Hi everybody,
I have a 3D Model which consists of a Master file with 41 Reference files.
I have to export all reference files to IFC.
Is there a way to export a bunch of files all at once?

Hi everyone,
I'm using Aecosim BD V8i and ProjectWise explorer 10.00.2265. When I open a Aecosim file through ProjectWise the Dataset doesn't load:
Any ideas? Compatibility issue between the 2 versions?
Thanks for your help
AecoSim says I have LumenRT but it is nowhere to be found. Need ot create a model for a presentation tomorrow.
GC has incorporated some very useful bits of information:
Grid node enhancements
It is now possible to use the grid intersection points to place other GenerativeComponents nodes. The intersection points are available as a flat list or as arrays stacked by floors. Additionally, the following output properties have been added to the Grid node type as ICurve lists: HorizontalGridLines, VerticalGridLines, RadialGridLines, CircularGridArcs and ComplementCircularGridArcs.
It would great if this information could also be accessed 'parametrically' by non-GC objects. For example, the Column object has a start and endpoints available for modification via the Properties Panel.
If a Grid Object is available, then it would be great if the intersection points could be accesible as a 'named value' or Item Type? A column StartPoint could be Building1.Floor1.GridA.Grid1 and its EndPoint could be Building1.Floor2.GridA.Grid1. A similar approach could be used for positioning beams and walls etc in a persistent way? The GridLines information could also be used to generate normals or tangents etc.
It seems like most of the tools are there. GC to generate the geometric information in a 'semantic' way. Item Types to format and store the information in a structured 'machine-readable' way. The new Item Types Expressions / Lookup Tables
Just needs hooking up to the Dependency or Relationship Manager? Rhino has had Named Positions for ages. Not sure, but there is probably very little propagation management needed as there are no nested or chained lookups. The Dependency Manager apparently can process multiple registered call backs, with no or little 'semantic' sorting of the sequencing. The new Relationship Manager sounds like it allows the programmer to set up or influence the propagation (like the Feature trees in Parametric Solids or GC or D++ or Inventor's iLogic or Revit's DMU API?).
But, what if you are not a programmer? Ie Item Type's target audience? Probably needs a 'pull'-based short propagation chain type workflow. User selects Column(s), clicks on Startpoint cell in the PP, OBD's Relationship Manager does a look out of the latest referenced info, checks for the depth of chaining and if there are too many, segments them so that the updates can be phased/rolled-back under user control, checks for any circular references, topologically sorts, comes back to user with dialog box.
The dialog box would generate a graph (using GC. Why not since it it now part of OBD, right?) and GC would then be used to manage the propagation / execution / updates.
1. Main Dialog Box:
a. Needs better 'wayfinding/showing' between assignment and visibility control tools.
b. Very poor feedback links between settings in dialog box and view attribute settings in Views.
c. No means to check whether or which elements have been assigned to a NP. A right-click in a cell in the Elements column that highlights the elements would be a good thing.
d. Chevron seems redundant / misleading at the moment.
e. It would also be good to allow NP's to work with more view orientations, including a way to default to a designated view when it is not available when a model referenced or when a Cell containing NP's is inserted. EG NamedView.Top defaults to Model:Top when the former is not available.
f. There should be an obvious way of switching to a mode where the NP view behaviour can be seen. This will be critical and much used mode to which the user will come back to again and again to check that he is getting what he wants.
f.1 No link between NP visibility setting and whether the NP flag is set in a View. When something doesn't work as expected, this will be one of the first things the user will instictively look to check, forcing him to bring up a big dialog that obscures a lot of screen real estate.
f.2 Mstn seems to be using the Displayset tool to emulate NP behaviour? Why? very confusing. No explanation in the Help file
2. Add to Named Presentation Dialog
a. Some hopefully blindingly easy fixes.
3. Properties Panel
a. The NP property should show up in the Properties Panel. This is a pretty important attribute. Dropdown should allow changing the NP attribute.
1. Modeled some elements and assigned them to NP's (Model, Top, Right)
2. Inserted model as Cell into Container.dgn
3. Top View does not honour Top NP.
What did I miss, homies?
I get this message when I try to use the CC tools:-
"You do not have permission to access on this server"
How does one set up a server?
What if you don't want to have the components online?
The update has killed (Update Open Buildings 3/31/2019) with Lumen RT) and stopped production. Worksets are no longer found and jobs are dead
Old product file structure is different so cannot make the new work relative to old
And it looks like all of fiels for Aecosim were moved or deleted so have no solution to work. I and DEAD
Hi
Anyone knows hou to activate the viewgoups toolbar we used to use in the former connect editions.
It was located in the lower left corner .
I used to use it a lot.
Thaks a lot.

Some long overdue improvements to the stair tool finally. Winding risers and spirals, great, been waiting a long time for these. Good.
Could still do with an additional type for half turn stairs and quarter turn stairs that allows more than 2/3/4 runs respectively. Would be even better if we could combine winding risers with these, or at least place separate types together to make up a full stair.
A little bug that I have found though is to do with stair height. By default I am unable to change the height by setting, as it is greyed out. I have gotten around this by editing the catalog items to allow editing of the height, but think this should be enabled by default.
Hi,
I am catering 16km TBM Tunnel, and I have two main issues.
1. Length of the tunnel discovers GC limitations. Computing tunnel build from rings (ring is created as node element build from build from 7 segments) takes 12 minutes for 1km distance on fast computer. It is impossible to create full 16km length ,hence model has to be split. Is there other solution for that? And is there a plan for multi core CPU support?
2. Creation of Key Block or Segment from WALL. Key element looks like on picture below
For normal Segments (C shaped) I am using Wall node created on arch. No problem here. I am using wall as I need to have all project metadata from catalog.
Problem is with key element. I have to cut (node Wall by cut) C shape segment on both side, by rotating two planes at the end of the segment. I use line as cut tool and feeded to CuttingProfile makes the software crash. When I do not rotate planed I see some cut preformed - but software again fezzes and crash.
Is there a better way to created tunnel key element (tapered C shaped wall) from Wall than by cut?
Software version as required on the project:
ABD SS6 08.11.06.866
GC 08.11.09.436
Floor plans, sections/elevations etc are cut from the model and cached.
Using microstation, we then reference these CVE files as underlays to a series of detail files, which are then nested into sheet files to create final drawings. All good, however, when users update the detail files through the sheets, this seems to cause the CVE's to break. geometry disappears and we need to reopen with OBD to refresh the CVE's to bring the geometry back.
Very frustrating.
Our workset files have the following lines written in, which should, in theory prevent microstation/powerdraft from being able to update the CVE's, prevent the model from being loaded and allow a smooth and quick workflow. As it stands, everytime we open a file with CVE referenced, despite MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD = 1 being set, on file open every nested reference model file is read, meaning file open is increbibly slow, and the amount of rework is crippling.
%ifdef BB_DISCIPLINE
_USTN_OUT = $(_USTN_WORKSETROOT)BIM/out/
MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD = 0
MS_CVE_ALLOW_ACTIVATE = 1
%else
_USTN_OUT = $(_USTN_WORKSETROOT)Export/
MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD = 1
MS_CVE_ALLOW_ACTIVATE = 0
%endif
Does anybody have any experience of similar or input on this?
Currently using OBD U5, but the same issue has existed in every version of ABD/MS Connect.
